Story
Simarjit Singh directed the 2018 comedy Maar Gaye Oye Loko, starring Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon and Sapna Pabbi in lead roles. It is a Punjabi comedy about Titu (Gippy Grewal) and his journey to marry the girl of his dreams, Simran (Sapna Pabbi). She is also interested in a local gangster, Gill Baiji (Binnu Dhillon). Titu's fortunes change forever when Gill Baiji (Jaggi Singh) is killed by his arch-rival Sidhu. In supporting roles, the film stars Jaswinder Bhalla, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, B.N. Sharma, and Jaggi Singh; Sapna Pabbi made her Punjabi debut there.
The story of Maar Gaye Oye Loco is written by Gippy Grewal. He also wrote Ardaas and Manje Bistre, both of which were released by his production company Humble Motion Pictures. Gippy Grewal served as the essayist, producer and entertainer in the film. Gippy Grewal revealed in an interview that Binnu Dhillon had written the role of Gill Baiji for himself, but did not play it due to the requirements of the look. Filming took place in Punjab. Kuvar Virk, Jay Kay, Snappy and Gurmeet Singh have composed the soundtrack of the film.
On August 31, 2018, Maar Gaye Oye Loko was theatrically released; It received mixed reviews from both the audience and film critics. It was a commercial success at the box office, emerging as a hit during its opening weekend. Netting was enabled. 201 million during its entire theatrical run and 99.5 million worldwide. The film is also the 26th highest grossing Punjabi film of all time and the fifth highest grossing Punjabi film of 2018.
