Story Line
Skilled pilot Captain Vikrant Khanna getting ready to take off from Dubai and land in Cochin. He parties and drinks the night before the flight, and is exhausted when he boards the plane, where Tanya Albuquerque is his co-pilot. Later, the flight was diverted to Trivandrum at Khanna's suggestion due to a cyclone in Cochin, despite objections from Albuquerque. According to Albuquerque, the second option should be Bengaluru and not Trivandrum, as Trivandrum is closer to Cochin and the chances of inclement weather are also high. Khanna claims that if they turn to Trivandrum, they can try to land there and save fuel. The pilots are not aware that Trivandrum faces worse weather than Cochin due to miscommunication, reducing visibility. A major disaster is averted when Captain Khanna closes his eyes and manages to land the flight.
The interrogation is preceded by a brief interrogation including Khanna's medical examination. However, the equipment is damaged and cannot determine whether Khanna is intoxicated or not. AAIB chief Narayan Vedanta is in charge of the probe into the pilots' action. Alma Asthana, an elderly woman who was on the flight and the only passenger Khanna trusted in her decision to go to Trivandrum, died of a heart attack on the way to the hospital. This is the main reason why the investigation is being done. During the investigation, Khanna is subjected to a polygraph test. Albuquerque is horrified by Vedanta's interrogation, and she incorrectly reveals that Khanna closed his eyes during the landing.
