Story Line
When little Vikram is playing cricket, he gets into a ball fight with the older, more experienced kids, displaying the bravery for which he later becomes famous. Vikram used to tell about his desire to join the Indian Army while watching the television show Paramveer Chakra. As he grows up, his desire to join the army becomes stronger.
While Vikram was in college, he aspired to join the Indian Navy or the Indian Army, with English as his primary subject. His girlfriend Dimple was happy when he was selected to join the Merchant Navy, but she was unsure about his future. Dimple and Vikram wanted to get married, but Vikram's father would not allow them as they come from different castes. Meanwhile, Vikram understands that he is appointed for the Military and not for the Vendor Naval Force. After completing his master's degree, he joins the Combined Defense Services and joins the Indian Army. Vikram joined the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles as a lieutenant and was posted at Sopore in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He participates in anti-insurgency operations and establishes friendly relations with both his men and the local people. He disobeys his CO Lt. on one of these missions. However, Sanjeev "Jimmy" Jamwal eliminates the criminals and saves Jimmy's life. Despite her rebuffs, Jimmy later approaches her.
Vikram is also a lieutenant in Delta Company, which captures henchmen of a rebel group. Leader Hyder ambushes Delta Company in retaliation by luring them into giving information about a weapons cache. One of the victims is Naib Subedar Bansilal, a friend of Vikram. He locates the traumatized and vengeful Haidar, and receives permission from the unit's lieutenant commander. Col YK Joshi for surgery. Hyder is killed when Vikram's Delta Company raids a house. The Kargil war is fast approaching, so he prepares to take a break without their knowledge.
