Storylines
Amartya Rao Naik's family belongs to the lower working class and his father sells vegetables on a railway overbridge. All the merchants there are forced to make fixed cash payments to the goon Gaitonde. Amartya's teenage brother Arjun is attacked one day by some dreaded Gaitonde accomplices. Amartya gets angry and destroys the entire gang. He is caught by the police and faces additional abuse by Gaitonde's crime partners. He defeats them all, earning the respect of the criminal Nari Khan, who warns Gaitonde against taking any further action.
Amartya is soon bailed out by the kind-hearted 'Bhau', the party chief of the local 'Chhatrapati Sena', who is known for his brutal ways and the hunt for musclemen like Amartya. Bhau tells him that, since he has made Gaitonde his worst enemy, he must find the answer in seven days, and that if he does, Bhau may borrow his political and legal protection as a result. Amartya meets Nari's important assistant and gets data on Gaitonde's actions. He then goes after his men and seizes all his stores. Later, he bails out Nari and threatens Gaitonde to get out of his way. Gaitonde understands his dwindling power and hates his destiny. With Bhau's gifts, Amartya manages the city.
