Story Lines
Millennia ago, the evil spirit ruler Lankesh was aided by Brahma, the divine force of creation, that he was unable to be killed by neither the devas nor the devils, thus becoming stronger. Elsewhere, Lord Dasaratha of Kosala banishes his son Raghava for a very long time in order to fulfill his guarantee given to his wife Kaikeyi, Raghava's stepmother, that her child will take a privileged position. Raghav accepts this and lives in the forest of Panchavati near the river Godavari with his wife Janaki and his brother Shesh.
Lankesh's sister, the demonic Shurpanakha, attempts to woo the siblings and end Janaki's life, however after the attempted bombing, the demonic loses her ears and nose. Upon learning of his sister's shame, Lankesh snatches Janaki in retaliation. Raghava and Shesha set out to free Janaki with the help of the monkey god Sugriva, his aide, Bajrang and his monkey armed force. With the help of the ocean god, they can expand (smash setu) across the ocean. Raghava and his army effectively cross the ocean to reach the shores of Lanka. Meanwhile Lankesh's brother Vibhishana is banished from Lanka because Vibhishana went against Lankesh's decision to kidnap Janaki. Vibhishana joined Raghav's army. A final offer is made to Lankesh but he rejects it and starts a struggle.
Shesh is harmed by Lankesh's son Indrajit during the struggle, yet they are able to heal him with the help of Sanjeevani brought by Bajrang. They again set out on the struggle and were victorious over Lankesh's army. Raghava and Shesha effectively kill Kumbhakarna (Lankesh's brother) and Indrajit. Left with no other option, Lankesh chose to go to the war zone himself. A fight ensues where Raghav finds a way to kill Lankesh and Janaki is freed. Raghava, Shesha and Janaki end their 14 long exile and reach Kosala once again, where Raghava is appointed as the lord.
