Storylines
The lord of Wakanda, T'Challa, is dying of an unknown terminal illness, which his sister Shuri admits can be cured with a "heart-wrenching spice". After Erik Killmonger destroys the herb, Shuri tries to artificially recreate it[a], but fails before T'Challa dies.
A year later, some parties are attempting to forcefully steal the vibranium, and other nations are pressuring Wakanda to share it. Sovereign Ramonda pleads with Shuri to continue her search on the spice, hoping to create another Dark Jaguar that will protect Wakanda, yet she refuses due to her strong belief that the Dark Puma is a relic of the past. There is a figure. A vibranium detector is used by SEALs of the CIA and the United States Navy to locate underwater vibranium deposits in the Atlantic Ocean. The venture is marred by a gathering of blue-clear, water-breathing extraterrestrials run by Namor, the CIA trust to focus on Wakanda. Namor easily defies Wakanda's advanced defenses to confront Ramonda and Shuri. He issues them an ultimatum, blaming Wakanda for the vibranium race: tell him the researcher responsible for the vibranium locator, or he will go after Wakanda.
